March 2013 has been quite clearly the month of Hardcore Superstar: Official record release party for the meanwhile ninth studio album "C'mon Take On Me" on 2nd March in Stockholm, concert and after-show party on 22nd March, also in the capital of Sweden... And today, on 27th March, it continues with a show in Finland's oldest city and former capital Åbo [in Finnish: Turku]. Admittedly, after the unequalled party action Jocke Berg (Vocals), Vic Zino (Guitar), Martin Sandvik (Bass) and Adde (Drums) had delivered five days ago in the Swedish metropolis, the expectations for the kick-off concert of their Finland tour are higher than usual. But Åbo is a rather small town and the completely sold-out "Klubi" in comparison to "Tyrol" a very small club, so a big opening including falling curtains can't be really expected here. Instead, Hardcore Superstar impress with the choice of their support act for the entire Finland tour...

Baton Rogue Morgue are THE Heavy Metal heroes from Borgå [in Finnish: Porvoo] - but for a bouquet of flowers from their hometown, the Finns had to wait in vain so far. Possible reasons for that and why the reception in countries such as Australia, America, Italy and Croatia is considerably warmer than in the land of thousand lakes were discussed in Neon Lights' exclusive interview with Baton Rogue Morgue. Also in matters of marketing, the quintet is - especially in comparison to other Finnish rock bands - one step ahead, and so it's not - as usual - the tour bus of the headliner which has been parked in front of "Klubi". "Baton Rogue Morgue On Tour" is written in white capital letters on the orange vehicle. You hardly would notice that there is another band playing tonight if you would just walk past the club. In the club, Lee Angel Morgue (Vocals), Domino De La Rogue (Guitar), Timothy Baton (Bass) and Danger Ranger (Drums) know how to convince with songs like "Midnight Rose", "Crystal City", the current single "Hat Trick" - and a new band member: Since two months, Joona Björkroth - so far mainly known as one of the guitarists in the Epic Metal band "Brymir" - replaces Francesco Gasoline Mattei on the guitar since Francesco moved back to his home country Italy.

Malcolm Dome from "Metal Hammer Magazine UK" once said about the rockers who already have played at the legendary club "Whisky A Go Go" in West Hollywood that they could be "the next big thing to come out of Finland". We agree with him - and attest Hardcore Superstar an excellent choice regarding their warm-up...

Hardcore Superstar themselves start their show - as expected - without the "curtain action" we witnessed five days ago in Stockholm - but with an almost identical setlist. Well, it doesn't derogate the high spirits at all. The only thing different in tonight's setlist is the fact that the intro "Cutting The Slack" and "C'mon Take On Me" are followed by "My Good Reputation" and not by "Guestlist". As in Stockholm, it continues with "Because Of You", "Wild Boys", "Dreamin' In A Casket", "She's Offbeat", "Sophisticated Ladies", "Won't Take The Blame"... Even the shortened version of Nationalteatern's "Barn Av Vår Tid" [Swedish for: "Children Of Our Time"] isn't left out tonight here in Åbo. Wonderful, especially for the Swedish-speaking Finns in the audience. Although: Many of the Swedish-speaking concert attendees tonight are in fact fans who travelled all the way from Sweden to Finland to party with the Street Metallers from Gothenburg.

Thanks to a kind of fence which is located at the right side of the stage, the ladies among the Hardcore Superstar fans can not only hang on Jocke's every word but also on the fence which creates a slightly similar atmosphere as in the music video "Wish" by Nine Inch Nails. It's mainly thanks to this very intimate club atmosphere which makes tonight's gig so special. While Vic Zino stands on the counter and lets the fans provide him with beer, Jocke invites after "Someone Special" and "One More Minute" a girl from the audience to the stage to sing "Last Call For Alcohol" along with him - but she prefers to dance for him...

After "We Don't Celebrate Sundays", "Liberation", the current single "Above The Law", "Run To Your Mama" and "Moonshine", "Guestlist" is going to be performed as the last song - and the reason for that is someone we almost had forgotten about: Antti Anatomy. Already during the last Finland tour in December 2011, it was almost a standard that the bass player from Negative spoke the Finnish intro of "Guestlist". In summer 2012, when Hardcore Superstar rocked with Mötley Crüe and Crashdïet in Finland's capital Helsinki and Antti Anatomy once again made an appearance as "guest speaker", one might have been tempted to ask if this is Mister Anatomy's main job. Maybe it is, maybe it's not. In any case, this part is getting a bit boring. How about letting Åbo's most famous rockstar, Mister Michael Monroe, speak the intro of "Guestlist" next time when playing in town? Well, one can always dream, right?
